PRESS RELEASECleaning of Quay walls
is essential to improving the Cllr. Billy Kelleher T.D. today stated,
“ there is a need for Cork Corporation to commence a phased programme
of cleaning the quay walls down to the low water mark.” “A significant part of Cork’s character is the fact that
it is a tidal City and as such the quay’s are a prominent component. It is particularly important from a tourism
point of view to show Cork at it’s finest.” “With the Millennium upon us, plans for the “Millennium
Bridge Project” and the illumination of the City’s bridges are under
way. I have raised the idea
of the cleaning programme with the Corporation.” “While we are spending millions on the Cork Main Drainage
Scheme to clean up the river it would now be timely for us to show
the limestone walls at their best.
They would prove to be very attractive when cleaned.” “I feel it is very timely for such a programme to be
undertaken and I hope my proposal will be approved.” |
