PRESS RELEASE
Following calls at the end of June from parents of Watergrasshill students attending Glanmire Community College for a transportation service to the college, Deputy Billy Kelleher lobbied the authorities during the summer for the provision of a service directly to the college. "Up to now the students would have to use the regular bus service to Cork City, unfortunately the drop off point is a considerable distance from the school. I have been informed by the Area Manager of Bus Éireann that they along with the Department of Public Enterprise are agreeing to provide a service of trial period where by the Rathcormac to Cork Service will be diverted to drop the students at the college." "I
am obviously delighted that in such a short period of time that we have
achieved so much. This is definitely a good starting point. The number
of students attending the college from Watergrasshill is increasing
every year and there is a need for a more comprehensive service. It
is vital that this trial period is supported in order make a case for
a wider ranging service."
