PRESS RELEASE

BILLY KELLEHER UNSATISFIED WITH INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS IN GLANMIRE

Deputy Kelleher has stated that he is not satisfied that the contributions being paid by developers in the Glanmire Area is not being put back into the community.

While Glanmire is developing at a rapid pace on visual inspection it is evident that Cork County Council are not providing an adequate service to the area.

“The fact that the developers have paid enormous sums to the Council through the years as levies on residential development.  This obviously is going into a central fund and being diverted away and Glanmire continues to suffer.”

Billy Kelleher said that he would try to seek information and clarification with regards to development charges gathered through the years and how much of those levies have been spent in Glanmire.

“ With our increasing population and a large demand on services such as lighting and footpaths, the monies that are allocated to the Area Engineer are wholly inadequate to cater for demand.”

“If the Council are serious about developing Glanmire that any of the levy charges collected on residential developments must be spent on the immediate area to upgrade facilities like lights and footpaths.”
