PRESS RELEASE
FIANNA FÁILS BILLY KELLEHER
CALLS FOR MORE RESOURCES TO FIGHT DRUG CARTELS In view of the drug seizures in Ringaskiddy
and Kinsale Cork North Central Deputy Billy Kelleher today called on
the Minister for Justice and the Minister for Defence, “to make sure
that adequate resources are provided for the South West, as this seems
to be the drug importation gateway to this country and onwards towards
Europe.” “ There is a fundamental need for resources to be placed
both on shore and off shore to deter drug smugglers as viewing Ireland
as a soft option for drug import. While
we have had major success in recent times in detecting and breaking
drug cartels it is imperative that our will and resolve is reinforced
with a physical presence of personnel and equipment.” “ While the Celtic tiger continues to roar on we must
ensure that the misery that drug abuse brings to people is finally brought
to an end and this war will have to be won at its source.” |
