Cork North Central consists of areas based north of the River Lee and includes the Northside of the City along with the greater Blarney and Glanmire areas.

In recent years Cork North Central has seen its boundaries change on numerous occasions as well as being reduced to a four seater following recommendations by the Constituency Commission.

The most recent report in 2007 has seen the transfer of areas from Cork East and Cork North West. Areas such as Watergrasshill, Burnfort, Glenville, Rahan, Lombarstown and Rylane now form part of Cork North Central.
