Schools Building Projects.

826. Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for Education and Science if a 12 classroom extension will go ahead at Riverstown national school, Glanmire, County Cork as one tender rather than the present announcement of eight classrooms with a potential of four extra rooms added at a latter stage as the present proposal will fall short of providing adequate space for the projected increase in the pupil attendance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23917/00]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): While architectural planning for 12 additional classrooms at Riverstown national school, Glanmire, County Cork is under way at present my Department will have to be satisfied, prior to tender stage, that the pupil enrolments at the school will warrant the provision of these additional classrooms. This matter will be kept under review during the planning process and the school authorities will be informed of developments.
