Following the Report on Dáil Constituencies in 2004 further changes have been made to the make up of Cork North Central. It has now gone from a five seat to a four seat constituency with an electorate of 91,368.

As a result of the decision of the Constituency Commission, Cork North Central no longer includes areas to the south of the River Lee such as Bishopstown, Model Farm Rd, Glasheen, Gillabeey as well as the City Centre.  All of these areas have been moved to Cork South Central.
