Kids to get better playgrounds with €264,000 boost - Kelleher

Cork North-Central Fianna Fáil TD Billy Kelleher has said children in the city will soon get more playgrounds after €264,000 was awarded to the four RAPID areas to build better recreational facilities for young people.

‘Four areas in inner-city Cork are to receive €66,000 each to build new playgrounds or restore old ones. It is important that the funding be used quickly to give our young people proper social and recreational outlets that will steer them away from anti-social behaviour at an early age,’ said Deputy Kelleher, who is the Government deputy chief whip.

The funding was awarded under the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs’ RAPID programme which targets disadvantaged areas.
